We decided to take our daughter on her 1st kayak trip to see how she would do on the water. Saturday morning we headed down to Patagonia Lake in Southern Arizona and met up with some friends. As soon as we got there it started raining. Luckily the rain let up after a few minutes and allowed us about 2 good hours of paddling time. Our daughter did well but I think that was her limit as she began to get restless. I didn't want to risk getting the camera wet so I didn't get any pics of the kayaking part.
It started raining again around 11am and we were forced to pack up and head for home so we decided to take a couple of detours. We crossed the Sonoita-Patagonia creek and followed the road along the preserve back to Patagonia.
We then decided to cut through Box Canyon heading west toward Madera Caynon and Green Valley. There is this big dry waterfall that I have tried to catch running numerous times and this was our lucky day.
We found a few forest service roads to link us back up to Sahuarita.
We came across this fenced in field of cemented PVC pipes so I stopped to check them out. Each slab/pipe had a stake with a number and inside each one was a small piece of 2x4 then dirt underneath that. I have no idea was this was for but there must have been hundreds of them.
So our short kayaking day turned out to be a fun little adventure anyway. It rained most everywhere we went and there is nothing better than a good rain in the desert.
Hope you enjoy:victory:
