Any pics of your new ride?
As for upgrades, there are many. What are your intentions for the rig? Basic off road trail riding? Technical off road trails? High speed driving over small-medium bumps? Rock crawling?
You ought to also check with Phil (on here occasionally but more often on 4x4wire's Diesel Pajero tech forum since he's a moderators there). He's also a Canadian and owns a gen II TD Pajero. He's on his 5th or 6th or maybe even 7th Pajero/Montero now.
Does your rig have an open diff or LSD? That's one upgrade I'd look into if you don't have any traction aids. If you have an LSD, then a locking diff is another worthwhile upgrade. Lockers are available from a couple of different vendors. ARB makes an air locker and there appear to be a detroit design locker or two running around as well.
Better gearing is available for both the differentials (Mitsu OEM gears) as well as the transfer case (Marks Adapters down under).
ARB, TJM, ECB are just a few of the aftermarket sources for front bumpers although they may have stopped making them for your model. That said, it's easy enough to modify a different vehicle's bumper to fit a Pajero and the bumpers can be had for a pretty cheap price via Craigslist, etc. For example my front and rear tube bumpers made for a Jeep JK was $350 for both and with the mods to make them fit about the same price after they were modded to fit my frame rails.:Wow1:
My 96 SR Montero is built for a combination of hard core rock crawling and simpler expedition/overlanding use. You can see a number of upgrades I did in my build thread here on the Portal (see the link in my signature) and also 4x4wire's Mitsu Tech forum.
HTH.
