I am replacing my torque converter soon as it is acting up along with the bearing. My 2002 Toyota 4Runner has 418,000 miles on it. The transmission is original and it is time for replacement.
I have a feeling but would like verify that the only group of transmissions that will work are from the 01-02 4runner year range. Excluding 03-04 (says these are drive by wire, but so is my 4Runner), the 96-99, and the 00 is a mixed bag.
That being said I am ok with swapping valve bodies, accusatory, sensors, oil pans, whatever if I can get another A340F and make it work. Needless to say of all the above years the 01-02 is the most expensive in the used market.
I am not interested at this time in swapping tail shafts and what not from an A340E.
Anyone with some knowledge that could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
