My 613d chasis has a small dash system that doesnt blow cold and is very small for the area..The garage recoomend converting it to the new ac gas..question is before I do this I was thinking of adding or converting to a bigger compressor and condensor. .have one from an older van that might work.. has anyone done this?

Most likely the gas has vented and that's why the system is not longer blowing cold air. Mind you, can you really tell if it's working or not at this tome of year in Connecticut!!!
If you do try to refill it - try to stick with the originally specified gas as it's much more effective (although not the best for the ozone). Filling the existing system with the newer gas type will make it less efficient than it was when it was working.
I had the same dilemma with an old (60's) Mercedes saloon. Got refilled with the old type gas and hey presto - it worked and was very effective.
