Now that selling my Airstream is upon me I have been searching and researching like h3!! for a replacement option and found that I have been spoiled by the stand up room in my B190 and the ability to be "anywhere" and set up shop with minimal effort. I have been back and forth from RTT to Flippac to FWC style pop up and they just fall short for me. After seeing the Tunook build and drooling over the XP Campers on flat beds it got me thinking about doing a hybrid. All of the campers I have seen that are full height seem to be for 8 foot bed, I see a lot of guys just leave the tailgate down, would it be an issue to build a 7 or 7.5 foot flat bed and permanently mount the camper to it? (I do not anticipate using the truck as the DD after the conversion) What will my main concerns be? Flex, body roll, etc??? I have supremely talented welder friend with a full fab shop willing to help just need some input for the flat bed portion so we minimize guess work:Wow1:
Thanks in advance, this forum has been an awesome resource!!! Once the build is underway I will start a thread for sure! FWIW thinking Sixpac, Capri, or Bigfoot as far as the camper is concerned, the Bigfoots like the beast themselves however, seem to be hard to find in the smaller sizes!!!
