Advice needed: Custom Skid Plates for 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara (US Spec)

Hello all-

I am pondering the possibility of custom skid plates for my 07 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Has anyone else attempted this? There are plates available, but I would have to ship them halfway around the world and would rather not pay for that. Not looking to create anything from diamond plate or home improvement stores, either. Just curious of everyone's opinion.

Should be fairly easy. You can use cardboard to mock up what you want and then take it to a metal shop and have them cut it out. If you can get scrap steel that they have left over from another job, it would be even cheaper. Any decent shop should even be able to drill /cut you mounting holes as well. Then a trip to the hardware shop for some grade 8 fastners and you are in business.
