Advice needed to helping my 9-year-old study for her Tech license

School is out, and my daughter announced she wants to get her ham license. Is there any advice you all have for how to study at a 4th grade level? eham and QRZ are surprisingly sparse on the topic.

The Gordon West Technician Class study guide is great. It's an easy read and a 4th grader shouldn't have any problem with it. I'd recommend reading the book and then taking the practice tests at QRZ. Hamtestonline.com has a neat learning system that will get the job done as well. For an online resource it does a good job of explaining theory as well as providing practice tests. It isn't free, but you probably wouldn't need the Gordon West or any other study guide.

Have her try

These tests use the current question bank. Yes, the learning by this method may be rote memorization, but 1) kids are good at that and 2) the skills to operate come with experience (not by studying for a written test), which she will undoubtedly get with your guidance.
