Advice on 1st Gen price

Hello everybody,

Back in 2014 we packed up all our stuff from Tinker AFB and moved to Sicily for 3 years. I sold my 2012 DC Tacoma and my 01 XJ on long arms and 33s prior to leaving. Well, life happened and my son was diagnosed with Autism so we will be heading back to Tinker AFB next month. I have another lil one on the way and with the wife not working, it doesn't look like I will be getting into a TRD PRO anytime soon. However, when looking around for Tacoma's in the local area I found this little gem. https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/5034794789.html My father-in-law just went and looked at it, front bumper is bent, few dings and dents, needs tires, and clear coat is starting to go on the hood.

Price seems good to me...whatcha y'all think?

Thanks,
Nick

I will jump in... For that price in a for sale by owner 2WD DC I would expect a nice truck with good tires and all maintenance up to date. Having said that the market is really localized and it depends on what else is on the market at the time and how much time you have to search. Might be worth the price if the timing belt was replaced at >100K, steering rack is in good shape (no leaks, no play), CV boots, rear axle seals, brakes and other maintenance items are all good. Tires, timing belt and steering rack are the typical big ticket maintenance items for those trucks at that mileage, so lower your offer if those items need attention. I would look carefully at the front bumber damage and look at the frame for rust too. Since it is for sale at an AFB the truck could have come from the North East and have a rusty frame. An 02 would still be under the frame warrantee, but for that price I would not expect any issues.
