AEV 4door jeep

hey i ws just on the site for AEV and i was looking at the price for the basic model conversion for a 08 4dr. it doesnt say if it comes with a lift or not, im guessing that it does because it can clear 35's (i think) but im really looking into getting one down the line, does anyone have one? a 4dr wrangler i mean. any thoughts?

I have friends with a 4 Door Ruby. They also have the older unlimited Ruby (His and Hers). Its nice and it is a little wider. The ergonomics are great and I hear you can get 35's on it with minimal work. I think you just need a spacer.

The one thing they said is the V6 just doesn’t deliver the low end torque as well as their unlimited Ruby with the I6. Not horrible he said but it is noticeable. On the hwy they say it rides great. The extra wheel base and better tuned spring rates make it a comfortable cruiser. They love it.


I am swayed by this vehicle as well It is a "Jeep" I could live with. Might be time to cash in on Mom's Employee discount. Let my wife tool around in it for a few years before I scratch it up off road. I'm kind of hoping the Hemi ends up in it. That would be the clincher becasue it could handle our camper.

I currently own a 2000 Cherokee which I have been happy with overall. When I was in Maui, for my honeymoon back in May, we rented a 4 door Wrangler. It was really a nice Jeep. I really like the extra space inside over the Cherokee. It rode nice and even bone stock, got down a number of dirt roads without any problems. We put over 700 miles on it during the week we had it. I really like the ergonomics of the interior as well. Also the foot well lip is lower then previous models so getting in and out is a little easier. Another plus was the fold flat, split rear seats. Much better then the Cherokee.

When we were just in Kauai we got a 2 door version and again, really liked it. Biggest difference I noticed was the turning radius. The two door definitely had a tighter turning radius. My Cherokee is in between the two.

As for the V6 power, it is different then the 4.0L I-6. Not as much bottom end but a better kick at highway speeds. It takes a little adjustment if you are used to the I-6 but nothing that would keep me from buying one. From what I have read, the V6 gets peppier once you get 3-4000 miles on it.

I have already desided that when the time comes to replace the Cherokee, a 4 door will be it. It offered everything the Cherokee has but has more room, better storage and hey, the top comes off if I want it to.

Rumor has it in '09 or '10 the 4door could get a small diesel in it. that would do it for me. tow my trailer @ 20+ mpg.

I love mine. I've had Jeeps all my life and so when they came out with one that better fits my current stage of life (kids, mortgage, suv, etc) I jumped all over it. It's been lots of fun and great evidence that Jeeps have really come a long way. The wider stance is nice and the ride is much better than previous models. The v6 is fine. It's no powerhouse but's it's certainly not a step down from the 4.0. Maybe a step sideways. That said, if the diesel ever comes available in the US I'd be all over that too. :chowtime: Hemi would be nice. I don't know why they don't. If it works in a Grand Cherokee it will certainly work in a JK.

The comfort and features are cool too. Power windows, good stereo etc but still have the old goodies to. For the last week or so I've been topless and doorless enjoying the weather. After a good cleanup yesterday I've now got the hardtop and doors back on and ready for winter. You simply can't get that anywhere else.

My wife is pushing for a new Unlimited. She sold her '98 Grand with the 5.2 three years back because she was tired of driving her Jeeps and wanted something with better gas mileage. She got an '04 Pontiac Grand Prix, and though it's been a great car and gets good mileage, she's now missing her Jeeps and wants a new one. Believe it or not I'm trying to talk her out of it. We have an '04 Unlimited (22,000 miles), which is technically "ours", and she drives it whenever she wants (I've come out to the garage a few times and found the LJ was missing). All of our vehicles are paid for and we have the Ram for work, hauling, and extended expo travel, the Pontiac for daily chores and "tourist" travels, The 68 Buick for cruising, and the Unlimited for fun and whatever needs done duties. Though I certianly would like a new Unlimited, we don't really need another 4x4 and not having car payments is really nice. But my baby works hard and if she wants something she usually gets it.

i LOVE my jk...has a hemi, lifted, bumpers and new stereo, 35" tires and a AT trailer....but i love my 2005 tj as well!!

I love the JK. My boss has one, as well as a good friend of mine. We hit pretty much every trail in Moab, and it made it look easy. 4" lift on 35's. It does need more power, whether it's a hemi or not.

It has to happen sooner or later. There's been at least one diesel LJ running around for years. I saw it about two or three years ago here in Toledo at a Home Depot, then again at the Dana test track in Ottawa Lake, Mich.
