AEV Procal question......

Hello everyone,

I recently went from a Rock Krawler 2.5 inch lift with RK adjustable arms to the full Teraflex Prerunner long arm system. It is about 2.5 inches taller than the well used RK set up. I think it's around a 4" lift from stock (yes, 2.5 + 2.5=4, Jeep lift math)

What I want to decide is if a Procal will help with ESP turning on

I have a Diablo Intune with Ripp programming for my long tube headers. I have the tire size set correctly, and the steering wheel is as centered as it's ever been. I am running Cooper AT3's in 315/70/17 with street pressure (at least when I am having issues)

I think my ESP is applying the brakes, a lot. This is pretty noticeable on winding roads, and in strong side winds. Sometimes I can feel it back off, sometime I just smell brake material when I stop. Odd thing is, I have checked the temp of the rotors with an infared temp gun, and none of them seem abnormally warm.

The AEV Procal FAQ Seems to suggest that all the procal will do to change the ESP is calibrate the tire size and gear ratio. The Intune is already doing that. I would like to know if the Procal can actually re-calibrate the ESP sensors to be way less sensitive.

Feedback on this appreciated.

D.

Upon looking into this further......

I downloaded the installation guide and see no provision to actually tune the ESP sensitivity beyond tire size and steering wheel centering. I guess I will need to find another cause of the ESP interfering with fun. I can turn it completely off with the Intune, until I turn it off and back on, then I have to go through the process again. Fine for trouble shooting, but not practical for actual use.

I'm pretty sure the ESC can't be re calibrated with a Procal. I was having issues with my ESC light coming on, very often, finally it stayed on. We made sure the wheel was straight but the light stayed on. This morning my wife took it to the dealer, the light went off on her way, go figure. They went over it and could find nothing wrong, did some warranty "flashing" of the system. I did have an alignment done, it'd been 23K since the last one.

I do not have a light coming on at all. I have had that before after bending stuff, or after changing suspension components, but it goes away once it is aligned and the steering wheel is straight. What I have is the feeling the ESP is kicking in and applying brakes and reducing throttle. Maybe I am imagining it, probably not. I have a pretty good feel for what this Jeep is doing after 130K of driving it.

I am going to do this in a little while http://www.jkowners.com/forum/electrical-lighting-tech-dept/19339-how-disable-traction-control.html
I'll see if it makes a difference.
