Africa Twin Project

Quick intro video of our newest project vehicle! A 94 Africa Twin! I REALLY love this bike! Its a great ride! In my opinion, it blows my old BMW Dakar out of the water. Runs smoother, handles better, ALOT lighter, easier to throw around, better fuel mileage, etc.
Check it out:

I like the Africa Twins. Good find! That's what I was shopping for when I found my latest project bike. The Ducati E900 Elefant! It is a real strong running bike. I should be able to two up on this one so much better than my KLR. All in all I would have rather had either the Trans Alp or Africa Twin, but my son is a big Ducati nut so it will be good to fix it up. I'll probably sell it to him after I get some miles on it.

I have a lot of questions, I guess! It’s mostly because we are on parallel paths.

Those Hondas make for some nice restorations. Are you going to go with a tradition paint scheme or do a custom? How far are you going to tear it down? Was it running when you got it? Will you do all your own mechanic work on it? I can imagine the Hondas are going to be easier to work on and parts easier to find.
But wait, can you still get parts for them in the U.S.? The Ducati still has parts available but at a price. Mostly from outside the U.S... I bought one set of brake shoes, all the Dealler had, for $80. I still need two more sets.

Well anyway, keep us posted as you progress. I’ll do the same.
Looking forward to watching your progress.

OHHHH friggan nice Ron! I'd love to have an AT, how much did it set you back? There was one on ADVrider that sold for like 8000 or so. If I ever move abroad, I know what bike I'll bring!

I'm working on my XR400 adventure/race bike. Trying to dual sport it on the cheap so that I can take it to Mexico. :sombrero:

Very kool..:bike_rider:
The Trans-Alps are even hard to come here.

So any updates on this project, Ron:roost:

I converted one of my Transalps into an Africa Twin! Everything basically bolts right on...

Wow. I love those bikes. I had a green and yellow Africa Twin when I lived in France. That bike was so awesome. I traded a pretty kitted out Ducati Monster for mine and was not unhappy with that decision.

Now if Yamaha would bring a 750 Super Tenere here and if Honda would bring over a new Africa Twin, we'd be set!!!
