Well it has warmed up and I have found that the AC is not blowing very cold. Need to add freon but not sure if it is R12 or R134. Anyone know?

Thanks

It is R134 but have you verified the freon level? There's a sight glass you can check on the evaporator canister. If it's full, then it won't be the freon so don't waste your money on a bottle. Mine's not working either and I need to look into that also but I have too many other higher priority projects right now.:ylsmoke:

To help troubleshoot the problem and also locate important components like the site glass to determine the freon level, check page 55-18 of the factory service manual (FSM). If you don't have the FSM, you can download it for free from mitsubishilinks dot com. Just follow the procedure there.

I've got to get that book printed out! I looked earlier for the AC info and came up empty handed. The AC blows cooler than the outside air, just not much cooler. Of course that dark blue in the desert sun does not help much.

Fwiw, it's 2 huge volumes. Probably 2+ reams of paper. It may be easier or cheaper to buy the OE manuals on eBay.

POI found the AC section by.... Looking in the table of contents. LOL!

If it still works most likely you just need to top it off. Easy to try, doesn't cost much. If it suddenly went out that would be a different story.

Thought I'd update: We squeezed some freon into the system, not sure how much but did not seem like much and the air at the vents is now at 35 degrees F. That's about a 40 degree difference from outside air temperature. Definitely feels colder than before the added freon. I'm glad since both of the front regulators have gone out on the truck and it may be awhile before I can fix them.
