We loaded up the suburban (stock) and our little 12' travel trailer and spent 3 weeks on the road to see my wifes family. The following are some pics with captions from the trip. Not off road but certainly covered some ground.

One of the dozens of black bears we saw along the way.

We camped at Okanagon Lake (spelling?). One of the nicest campsites we had.

I could write about the road, but basically we got on the road early in the day and quit every afternoon with time to play. 6 people and two dogs in a suburban and a little trailer makes for tight quarters. Ship shape rules and getting our set up and break down procedures finely tuned made a big difference. It was wonderful carefree family time without the stresses of the job, no cell coverage, no computers, just good old fashioned camping. Fires, smores, tang, grilling, sight seeing and on and on.

The customs people in Canada couldn't believe we drove all that way for a "short" vacation in Spokane with family. They didn't get that the vacation was the trip. :wings:

Yes the Alcan, although we took the Cassiar on the way south and 97 north up to Ft St John on the way back.
