all your issues all your vehicles keep it light.

1965 corvair corsa blew engine cause I drove it like I stole it. was 17

1968 ford fairlane 500 fast back bought it used ($350) drove home on winter break CA to east coast over heated the whole way finally ran normally when the temperature dropped in to 8 degrees and it started to snow . Never turned it off the entire trip from Ca to maryland. ( just changed drivers) got home dropped the pan 5 pistons worth of aluminum skirts in the pan So I bought a used windsor motor dropped it in drove it for 2 more years a lot off road on grading jobs sold it for 300 to buy a

nissan King cab. Since i worked off road I thought truck ( i was 22) I got stuck every where, in the mud, in a dry field except where there was some mud, on a wood bridge missing a plank. and the list goes on.... sold it bought a

77 cj7 golden eagle Loved it. never got stuck. scared my self silly on a off camber muddy road between 2 grading jobs I thought was gonna slide of the road into a canyon clean out ( I am a geologist and work off road grading jobs exploration etc) also drove it up a steep slope ( i am 23 and think a jeep it can go anywhere) could get over the lip at the top put in reverse to back down took off like a bullet down hill fast it was the only time I ever did a j turn I was so scared I had to walk a way from it. for a while but there it was sideways still upright at near the bottom of the hill sitting a 26 degrees Yes I measured it I carry a compass with an inclinometer. ( brunton) issue the first day I had it got a fix it ticket because the headlight switch burned out and I had to drive it home in the dark.

Next got company truck ford ranchero.... stuck every where and all the time .....

then we all got 1978 toyota 4x4 pickups 4 banger, ( another company truck) heat shield sucked and rattled sounded like a rattle snake was under your hood.

got laid off gave the truck back bought an 82 toyota 4x4 pick up with a 5 speed same basic engine Figured a newer version of my old reliable pick up NOT it was the worst transmission ever made, first one failed at about 38,000 miles and was the first of 5 to break.

traded it on a 78 bronco which was fine but heavy and got stuck a lot.... I didn't know you were supposed to let air out of your tires in a sand wash finally a brake line broke and the thing sat waiting for a " metric part" on an otherwise american made and sized truck.******?

sold that bought a 4runner worked pretty good until I put big tires on it and did not re-gear oh well one more trans failed.

now i finally got some cars, first was a toyota supra which was great fun civilized but the door trim always broke off and the bolts on the steering linkage would shear off if you turned too Hard ( full lock) and hit a bump simultaneously

sold that got a vet, faster and American made >>>>>> transmission again

bought a 3/4 tone suburban with a 350 that was pretty much bullet proof. nothing ever happened to it. so hmmm chevy???? bought a used 95 2 door full size blazer. 350 motor and auto I think it was one that had been flooded out because I took the carpet out and under the carpet was 1/2 " of dried and caked in silt throughout the cab under the carpet!!!
I lifted it with heavy duty torsion bars from a 3/4 ton suburban and put 285's on it and ran it to230,000 miles had one trans go at 78,000 and got a new one in never had any other problems with it. cracked a an exhaust manifold.

bought a viper at that time blew head gaskets at 18,000 miles sold it in my divorce.

Then sold the blazer when my son rolled my new wife's new expedition

Finally started to Learn about 4 wheel drives so I
bought a 98 land cruiser 100 series with a center and rear locker, heated seats nice leather it was a sweet ride....... had it lifted. ran Parnelli Jones tires ARB front bumper TJM rear with tire swing dual batteries custom made side bars and front wrap around protection
it worked great until the computer started doing weird things and I couldn't afford to fix( 115,000 0n the clock got used with 28,000) it so I traded it in on a

chevy 4x4 crewcab pick up which was ok but not very off road worthy and boring as crap, so I sold it.

bought an 03 vet very fun but not very practical and my then ex wife found out about it took me back to court had to sell it.

next I bought another chevy pick up. I had a rock crawler coil spring lift put on it WORST decision ever... got like 8 inches of lift out of it and put some 35s on it. looked pretty cool but functioned awful road like a buck board wagon and it wandered all over the freeway . in a panic stop, you could roll dice to and predict which lane you would end up in better than you could guess. I finally sold it and was glad to see it go the lift was the worst thing ever. turned a nice truck into a money pit.

Then I got an h-3 and loved it but way underpowered so I added 35s to it to make it more under powered. lol
I bought a 4 door tacoma i too I had 2 4 wheel drive trucks and it was nice.
Then I saw the jeep JKU lifted with 35 s and I was wow that is it for me.

so there I was with JKU and Toyota 4 door tacoma with the off road package > I liked it fine but loved the jeep .

During all this time there are some honorable mentions MY first wife' 454 4x4 suburban no problems ever but it got axed in the divorce.
I drove several TJs, rentals on off road trips including one on a jeep jamboree across the rubicon,

Wow, what an expose! Interesting reading, I've had way too many vehicles to remember what was wrong with each of them. Currently have 3 Jeeps, 2K XJ which is lifted and didn't change the gearing so yes it's underpowered. 04 TJ which is lifted with JKUR springs and spacers up front giving it 2" front/2.5" rear and 1" BL. Daughter drives it back and forth to school. Wife drives an 11 KK 70th Anniversary edition which is actually equiped better for offroad than either of the other two because it has full length skids, trakloc front and rear, 3:73s but absolutely no ground clearence. It now has 32K miles and is on its second transmission. My driveway has a slight incline and if I try to back up it, the tranny shutters. ******! That is why it has a new tranny in it. I love the vehicle, great road manners, comfortable and the wife loves driving it. Always get complements on the color (Bronze Star) which was a 70th anniv color but milage is terrible. It's a Jeep thing, aerodynamics like a brick, what do you expect?

I had very very good luck with all my vehicles. The 98 Dakota I had liked front end parts but I attribute that to no greaseable ball joints, and the worst vehicle I ever owned was my 2001 Subaru legacy GT. It was in the shop every week, persistant computer issues, transmission and engine issues, windows that had wind noise all the time and the list goes on. The worst part was subarus warranty, they covered the parts but not the labour for repairs. In 18 months of ownership I spent almost 7k canadian on supposded warranty work. That left a foul taste in my mouth with anything Subaru. I even had meetings with John Paynter who was/is subarus east coast manager for Canada. Nothing came from that either. So, off to the car dealer the next week, and I had a brand new VW Passat turbo. Much better and happier. If anyone asks me about subarus, I give them my opinions of them. hopfully they don't buy one here. I am not sure if all dealers are that way, but it was subarus policy at the time, so they said.
