FOR SALE: Callen Camper

Location: Trinidad, California, USA

Description: Got this custom made for my 95 dodge 2500 with an 8ft bed this fall. Took it down to baja for its maiden voyage but have realized I'd like something a little smaller/lighter. My previous experience with a callen on a tacoma was great but I think the dodge will be better suited to my uses with something smaller and a suspension upgrade. Inside is all built out with a full size bed platform, tons of storage, a hidden and bolted in safe, and a kitchen area. The camper sits 44inches above the bed rail and the cab over is 30inches long. Here is the link to the craigslist post. https://humboldt.craigslist.org/pts/d/trinidad-custom-callen-camper/7443189416.html

Price: $7,500 obo

Callen's racks are extremely heavy. I've had three Callens. When I dismounted the rack on one for painting the truck had much better handling. Aluminess or any competent welder with aluminum fabrication skills can build one. Not cheap by any means but it should feel much lighter. Regardless, that's a nice camper.

Hmmm, not a bad thing to consider... I didn't go for the full safari rack due to weight concerns but I suppose the one on there is still fairly heavy. And thanks, callen campers are the best! I'm sure I'll regret selling it but I wanna upgrade to a carli suspension setup before I'm cruising around in the woods for work and can't afford both.

I visited the new factory and the owner. Extremely nice, dedicated guy but he just couldn't pull it off due to the man hours required to build one.
Lighter is sure better off highway. BTW,even going under he honored all builds and returned deposits. Moral, class act a rarity these days. Consider Thuren too. He returns calls,e-mails and won't oversell you.

Post it in San Diego's CL.
Regarding suspension,Thuren's got some soft riding coils and a custom leaf pack out back would help heaps. I've had three Callens and they are heavy.
Lots of upgrades for the brakes and steering now too. I'll forward your ad to the shop I use in Santee.

It was posted down there for a bit but I definitely need to post it again in more locations, I forget not everyone knows about searchtempest.... Maybe it wont be bad with the roof rack removed and the suspension upgrade but unfortunately right now I cant afford to keep it and upgrade the suspension as well.
