Alu-Cab is a South African company that makes a wide range of campers , trailer, and commercial bed caps and bodies. The company also makes slide out drawer systems and overhead consoles. As the name suggests, the company uses aluminum bar, tube and sheet to construct its products. Thanks to forum member Mamontof for bringing Alu-Cab to our attention.

Alu-Cab advertises that they are willing to custom build to suit your vehicle and needs. The company web site is http://www.alu-cab.co.za/ Be patient -- the web pages are slow to load.

Here's an example of their camper design for a small pickup. Note the fold-down sleeper on the side of the camper, and the fold-up window cover/shade on the other side. Alu-Cab says a camper like this weighs about 700 lbs / 300 kg unloaded.

And here's a similar design for the Mercedes Sprinter cab/chassis. Check out the shower enclosure in the lower left photo!

Dunno about on this forum but Andrew St.Pierre White used them, I don't know the guy from a bar of soap and disagree with a couple of things he says about vehicles (not much, mostly just personal preferences), but he seems to know his stuff and he reckons Alu-Cab are the ducks guts. Mind you they probably sponsor him, but elsewhere he has given his opinion on vehicle's failings to the point of (essentially) losing a job over it, so I don't think he wouldn't say something is good if he doesn't believe it is.

He has moved back to the UK so the vehicle is for sale. The videos about the vehicle are interesting but I was left hanging, I think there should have been a couple more.
