Aluminum hi-lift jacks

Did the search but couldn't find anything on the board. Years ago I used to see aluminum Hi-lift or Jack-all type jacks available but haven't seen those for awhile. Does anyone know of a source for these. I also checked at;

http://www.hi-lift.com/

But the site doesn't seem to work for me.

their site seems to be down.
I would be hesitant to buy a aluminum hi-lift because of the tendency for aluminum to crack and fail immediately rather than bending like steel. For the long beam on the hi-lift, i would just not feel comfortable with aluminum.

You could get an aluminum floor jack and use that on the trail. they are very lightweight.

Never seen an alluminum version. Just the Hi-lift Xtreme which is charcoal powder coated and zinc plated for rust resistance - but it's still just as heavy as the standard one!

Shipping is pretty expensive on those jacks so best deal in town is usually Princess Auto. Every once and a while they throw the Extreme on sale.

Can't say I've ever seen an aluminum hi-lift style jack. They did used to make a cast and stamped version of the same style, however they might have done away with that on the new Hi-Lift Extreme?

Yeah I agree that the failure rate on an AL model would be far to high. I kill the regular ones when removing stumps. It's nice to know they bend slow and then break. In my experience aluminum cracks and shatters, not as dramatic as glass breaking but similar.

I don't remember exactly what I looked at about 30 years ago but I do recall that it was a short style light weight Hi-Jack type jack made out of all lightweight components, maybe it was some military spec that escaped that system and was sold as surplus...only ever saw similar the one time.
