On 8/21/10 I meet up with the Wastch Cruisers at the Tribble Fork Resivor in American Fork Canyon to make the trip up to one of the members cabin on some old mining property. The trip would wind us up mostly a 2wd drive dirt road ( 4wd only being required in a spot or two) up to around 10,700 ft up tight switchbacks and with a nice hill climb up a loose, rocky trail to the flats up above the cabin (4Low was required to make it up and back down) and then back down to the cabin for lunch.

Total vehicles on the trip was around 18 with 30 (guessing) people in attendance. The weather was just about perfect not to hot and not to cold, with a nice cool breeze (gusty up at the 10,700 ft) and no clouds to be seen.

Wish I could've stayed a little longer in the coolness of the mountain cause back down in the valley it was a little toasty.

Great pics Teaaron!

The reservoir is called Tibble Fork, though it was supposed to be 'Tipple' as there was a tram tipple at the now site of the reservoir. Somewhere over the years its name morphed from Tipple to Tibble and Tibble stuck on the maps. Richard, Mike and I hiked up to some of the tram towers above Mary Ellen Gulch, it was a nasty hike but neat to see. When we got back to the cabin everyone had already departed.

18 rigs, wow that is a good size group!
But I gotta say I like the range of rigs on this run, you guys are great to welcome them all.

The pics are killer, I especially like the dog in the window :)

Is the cabin you mentioned something newer built on the land or an old cabin? I always wonder about getting some old mine claim just to say I have a mine of my own :)

Thanks for posting.

Great trip!

Thats a big group! I also appluad the variety. That pic of the 80 going up the switchback is killer!

Utah is a place I've been to before, but never really seen. Glad you can show us a little piece of your world in this trip report.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Doh!

I thought about doing that hike with you all but I was running low on water and just decided to leave. How much of it was left?

It's under construction but mostly finished.

Amazingly quite a bit. There were at least 5 towers and a 'rollers system' over the ridge that are in tact. All had been cut at the base and tipped over (gotta love the mission of the FS) but they were still there, rollers, cable, tensioners and all. We didn't take any water either thinking it was a bit closer, the only one really lusting for a drink was my dog, she got back to the cabin and laid down in the stream.

:Wow1: That looks a little steep.

The last 1/8 mile got really steep, bad enough I put my dog back on the leash and eventually tied her up to a tree on the ridge while I scaled down to the towers. It was a bit unnerving but worth seeing the towers up close and the subsequent view. There are at least two more ridges that would have had towers, I'd like to see if I can find those. I was able to line myself up with the tram station and the towers and visualize where they would land on the ridge between Major Evans Gulch and Porcupine Gulch, now to find the time and energy to hike back up there.
