There was a fairly constant wind blowing so the noise from it may have masked any sound. I did try pushing sand over the edge of the steepest incline to build up a "wave" that flowed down the side. Maybe next time!

Great write up and pictures, thanks. Bridgeport is my home town so I always like seeing pic's of the area. Is Owens Lake filling up since they started letter the river flow in 2007?

I don't think that they will ever let the whole thing fill up. I seem to recall that a certain % of the dry surface had to have a couple of inches of water on it to keep the dust minimized.

No appreciable change in water level that I've noted. Mono lake has risen noticeably though .
