Expedition Leader
Those of you in the Northwest with interest in UNIMOGs might want attend next weekend's Northwest MogFest, one of the--if not the--largest gathering of Unimogs in North America. Counting a sprinkling of Pinzgauers, G-Wagens, Haflingers, Volvo C303s, VW Synchos and other European miscellany (like my Sprinter ) we had about sixty vehicles and a hundred participants last year.
Of particular interest to this group, there will be all manner of "expedition" Mogs to see, including those of adventurers stopping by in the middle of their North American expeditions. (Even the ex-Hiscox Camper Mog--still for sale, BTW--is expected to be there, should you like to see what eight tons of off-road motorhome looks like.)
There are many fun activities, like the midnight drag races, the women's backhoe competition, chances to ride in and/or drive all types of Mogs, and a nifty obstacle course designed to show off the Mog's outstanding off-road capability.

Most every model, shape and configuration of Mog made will be attending,

as well as Mogs of all sizes.

The MogFest is held near Sheridan, Oregon, which is itself about 50 miles west of Portland. The facilities are outstanding, there's camping available, and good food is served at meal times.
HOWEVER, this is absolutely NOT a public event. It was, until the year a bunch of local idiots brought their crappy rigs, raised hell, had one catch on fire and almost burned down the farm. Quite a story . . . and I never did get my fire extinguisher back.
Anyway, you need to be "invited" to this private event. If you are interested in Unimogs, you should attend and you will be very welcome. But you have to go to:
http://northwestmogfest.com/
then go to the contact page and tell the registration people you'd like to come. They will then get back to you with the necessary information.
As you can tell, liability concerns make it necessary to have a small hoop to jump through, but if you are interested in learning more about Unimogs and other interesting European vehicles, you couldn't do better than to attend this unique event.
Post up any questions you have.
