Hello folks! This is my first ever post after lurking from the weeds for a good while. So, as the title told you, I have a 90 2500 GMC Suburban and I am going the Expo route with it.. The truck is currently tbi350/th400/np?208?.. 10 bolt in the front and a SF 14bolt under the bum. Although it is rocking about 210k currently, it is incredibly clean. Absolutely rust free, which in my state of PA only happens in out of state trucks. This is the case with mine, a former Boise truck belonging to a Funeral Home which used it as a first call body picker... lol. Any way, I have some big plans for my creepy old boy. Since I have spent my whole life building and fabricating dirt track race cars and my own street rods and 4x4's, I intend to do as much of it myself as possible. I'll give you the planned list and let you all hammer me with critique and tips. It is my only driver until the weather breaks and I can build my new garage (just bought this house in the fall). Then the build will commence! So here we go, tell me what you think.
Dana 60 Front/FF 14 Bolt rear with locker.
rebuilt 6'' rod 350 with vortec heads, intake, headers, mild cam
ranger torque splitter/sm465/np205 with twin sticks. (yes, I know... 4 shifters) (**already have a fresh sm465/np205 set up. figured the ranger will help in between the big drops for trail as well as the trailer towing it will also be used for. (2 granny, 2 reverse, 6 speeds with the last being OD)
4 inches up with 315/75r16 something or others (any recommendations welcome, but I need a tire good for highway and trail). Unsure on gear ratio as of right now. 456ish maybe?
12k winch on the snout
'Made by me' bumpers front and read/rock sliders/exo-cage with rack
numerous interior and exterior (rack and rear door mount) storage shenanigans
LED light bars (front bumper, all 4 sides of rack)
CB with weather band and PA speaker.
interior matched suspension seats in the front and LMC truck rubber/plastic flooring kits.
skid plates to protect vital gizzards...
It is also worth mentioning that I have my eye on a few 1 ton military trucks to steal the front and rear diffs from. as well as plans I have for the rest to make a trail trailer using the frame, bed, and my current SF rear with a contractors steal cap. I plan to use the side storage as well as tongue storage I will construct for more supplies and the bed for further camping room. When my rig is complete, I hope to get lost out here in the Appalachians as often as I am able to due so, thus leaving the daily BS of work and adult responsibility far behind on the paved roads. Any and all ideas, criticism and comments are welcome. And I will make a solid effort to be less of a stranger here on the forum in the future! Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you all!
