another JK Unlimited to the mix!

Hi fellas - warranty came up on the rubi and I decided to have a look see at the new unlimiteds. Well, I was sold! It has about 2x the amount of cargo area as my '06 Unlimited. The extra doors for my daughter, and the quiet, decidedly un-jeep like ride was a big sell for getting the missus involved on more trips.

I took home an X this time. It has a rear-locker out of the rubi, and the electronic swaybar disconnect and the rubicon's "heavy duty" suspension, and the same size 32" tires on 17" moab rims. Future mods include many tanks of gas and maybe some different tires. We'll have to see how bad these slickers are before I ditch 'em. After being in the LJ for so long ... this new JK seems more like a posh land-rover than a jeep. The difference in ride quality is astounding.

cheers,
-isaac

Congrats! I'm sure you are going to love it. It won't be very difficult to pick up some take off BFG's from a rubicon, I actually found a set for free but then again I'm much more fortunate then most folks:punk03:.

I have high expectations for the traction control system keeping the front axle useful. If it doesn't I'll swap a a rubi front-axle in for good measure.

What are people finding out for skids on the new unlimiteds? I've already got the evap canister relocation and control arm reinforcements lined up. The gas tank skid seems pretty thin but wonder if it won't be fine with a little lift on there. A Skid Row engine/tranny skid is high on my list. I can't see spending $1000 for the Treks system and adding all that weight to the vehicle.
