Last week, a guy I met offered me his 1985 Grand Wagoneer. I just got rid of a 1987 K5 Blazer and was focused on finished my Discovery. I could not pass this up and I now have another money pit in the stables.
1985 Grand Wagoneer
360, 727, Edelbrock performer intake, 650 Vacuum secondary carb, edelbrock performer camshaft, Crane cams performance ignition module, flowmaster muffler, 3in Rustys lift, 31in tires. This guy took great care of the truck and has all service records. The best part about all of this is that I got it for free!!!!! My wife loves it too!!!! I always regretted getting rid of my 1989 5spd, 2dr Cherokee and the K5, but this makes up for that many times over. I hope you enjoy the pics.

2 additional pics...

These are the last 2 pics I took of the truck. The guy has some pics of he and myself exchanging the keys. He came over yesterday to see it one last time. He now owns a 2003 Rubicon and has a 3in lift that he and I are going to install one of these days.

thanks...

thanks XXpedition... I will probably get started working on it after the Discovery is done. I do like it, but for all of it's size, it can't safely carry my wife and 4 kids. I will need to add some rear shoulder harnesses at some point. I think that may be a trail only rig also since the guy that gave it to me said it gets about 7mpg.

A classic, congratulations.

My buddy in high school had one of these handed down to him from his Dad. What a great road tripping ride. Many fond memories driving his Wagoneer down to Myrtle Beach. Just a great, great cruiser. And that red interior.....

There's a great website on Wagoneers and other full size Jeeps, if you're looking for inspiration, tech help, fellow owners, etc.

Thanks guys. I do like it. I am going to go out and get some gas in it. I may also try some seafoam later. I am looking forward to taking this out and seeing what it can do.

So i'm not the only one with a grand wag here? I was starting to get lonely.
I'll post up pics of my build thread here soon so you can see how bad I am mangling mine....

ha ha...

I was actually thinking about selling it, but the body is so straight and it starts and runs nicely. I "Seafomed" it this afternoon and let my wife take a good look at it. It does need some electrical work (window switches), and some work done on the seats, but everything else is ok. There is no headliner and I'm not going to get one. I'll paint the bare metal instead. I'll post my progress also, but it probably wont really begin for a while. I'm getting the Discovery ready for a trip to OBX this August and maybe the Waggy will be ready to go next year.

Except for the transfer case which probably is a high maintenance item, the old FSJ wagons were an outstandingly stout vehicle, and the 360 one of the better large displacement motors of the era.
