Another U500; this one's a 2002 for $52K

I was over at the Unimog Exchange for another reason and came across this:

Probably missing many of the goodies (like hydraulics and VarioPilot) that gave the others $150K+ MSRPs, and there's no mention of the condition. Figured it was worth mentioning, though.

Some are only an eight speed and no CTIS. The more expensive have the automatic manual transmission option. It does sound like it was set up for cold with the heated windshield. Most people could do without variopilot.

edit: found the pictures of it online. A bit too rusty for me, maybe not though as it looks to be mainly the tipper bed and the exhaust, anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well, yeah...

It clearly is a truck that has been worked, and perhaps running salt (which will get rust fast) but other than that it sure sounds like a pretty good price. It has also been on there for more than a month now, so you might be able to talk him down another 5K or so if he really wants it gone.

Check it out, offer him $45k and see what he does. (If he punches you in the mouth that's a NO... )

Just looked at the photos again, yep, lots of rust. I would see how the frame looks, as well as the portals. Check all the seals for leaks. If you are really interested then check all the fluids in there.
