antenna and coax for cobra 25 on '00 tahoe?

i have decided in the last week that i need some communications in teh the tahoe. i have also decided on the cobra 25 after the good experiences with this radio in my 4 runner. i have always run firesticks in the past with there coax and have never got the standign wave down where i would like. but, there cheap and durable so i have always run them. the tahoe will probbaly be more of a daly driver and i'm just looking for something better.

i'm not a big fan of mag mounts, so i'm looking for something solidly mounted to the truck. open to suggestions. thanks in advance

Well no substitute for 18ft of good quality coax run into a ~100in stainless whip mounted through the body on a stainless ball mount like the highway patrol use. That bad boy will talk as good as it can without bein amplified with that setup :victory:

Best antenna would be a 102" steel whip with a 6" spring side mounted to the tahoe behind the rear tire on the passenger tire. YOu can snake the coax behind the plastic trim and under the dash.

sorry for the confusion, fellas. i would like recommendations on the second best set up. i do not want to run a 102" whip. am i back to the fire sticks?

I've been using K40 antennas for 25 years - they have never let me down.

Mine are all mounted through the roof (drill a 3/4" hole) - and I add an aluminum backing plate under the roof (above the headliner) for strength and to help the ground plane.

2nd best antenna would be a firestick side mounted to the tahoe behind the rear tire on the passenger tire. YOu can snake the coax behind the plastic trim and under the dash.
