Any issues with using a new galvanised jeep gas tank for diesel fuel?

so I decided to rethink the tank idea and go ahead and spend the money on poly tank.

after measuring better I found that this tank will fit nicely: http://raybuck.com/i-6699960-1973-1979-ford-pickup-19-gallon-tank-without-ems-hole-on-top.html

then add this sending unit to act and pick up and fuel gauge http://raybuck.com/search.html?q=FM...=8&ga_id=29900b94-9499-4ca9-b93b-245481f87655

it will be real nice to have 19 extra gallons of fuel and probably well worth the money if im going to spend the time fabing up mounts and lines and all...

Thoughts?

Just so you know, repurposing the "EMS" (emissions vent) port on top of the tank into a regular vent fed nice and high up is pretty much the standard practice for getting as much fuel as physically possible in the tank, like all the way to the fill cap even. But I can certainly see the appeal of keeping things simple and not having yet another hose to deal with. Besides if that's what fits best, run it! Just remember to use a vented cap on the fill neck!!!

Edit: this is cheaper, and given who the vendor is I kinda doubt this is a case of "you get what you pay for", should be a good tank: http://shop.broncograveyard.com/197...lastic-19-Gallon-Rear-Tank/productinfo/20320/

thanks for the info. didn't think about doing that with the hole, might have to do that. took more measurements and now not 100% sure it will fit. going to make a cardboard template to see all clearance issues.
