Any Tundra Build Pics?

Wow! I'm really digging this long travelled, hood-scooped ride! Kinda what I always envisioned for my own truck, but never willing to throw the cash down......

If you keep your eyes peeled on the TTORA or Race Desert classifieds...components come up once and awhile...some times new, some times used. Coil-overs can be found cheap, only cost roughly $100 to rebuild a pair.

Ha! yeah, that's how I got my ancient Donahoes. Just can't convince myself to long-travel my DD.....you'd think after 9 years I'd convince myself to do the upgrade....

...and the other thing, even with long travel...you're going to want to go faster, which means the chance of breaking parts gets higher...then it snowballs.

I have been meaning to LT my Tacoma...but I kind of fell into videography recently...now I am looking at camera equipment...which gets expensive real fast! Makes LT kits look like chump change.

So the truck mods get shelved (again)...and really, it is just a means to tote gear (I really don't "need" long travel)...next "for sure" mod is a Bed-Rug to help protect camera equipment...

Here is my 'mild & slow' build as it were. I am planning a topper or devising some type of tent built into the tonneau, not sure yet. I want to replace the steps with sliders at some point. All that has been done is what I call the 'TS' treatment (TundraSolutions.com) - Bilsteins all around (Fronts at 2.5" lift) and a 1.5" Wheeler AAL in the rear. I have done the rear axle breather mod, diff drop and a few other small items. Nothing too fancy, it jsut allows me and the family a comfortable way to get a little further off the beaten path.

Nothing too fancy for us. We did buy a cap so I need to get a roof rack for the tent. Fridge, air compressor, OME coils with Deaver springs and air bags in the rear. 255/85R16 rubber.

I built them. They are weld on and I get lots of interest in them.

I am looking at offering them for production this winter. Shipping might kill the idea though as I am in Canada and most guys are in the US and they are long (obliviously)

Nice work. I am building a set for my self as well. I wish I made kick outs on mine. I need to finish my brackets and get them mounted.

I'm happy with mine- '03
Tent is on 1" rails across the bed, leaves me all the bed space.
3" lift in the front - 1" in the rear with a diff-drop to compensate.
JBA Headers - Flowmaster 50 series muffler (quietflow) + Goodyear Dura-trac's.

Haven't had a truck payment in a couple years which is when I thought I'd be compelled to buy another truck, but this has been a GREAT truck for me.

It doesn't take much...maybe a 2.5-3" coilover suspension lift, upgraded rear springs, a topper and call it good. Simply sleep in the topper, or backpacking tent.
One needs very little to "expo"...or "exped"....:ylsmoke: I don't care for awnings attached to the truck...prefer a free standing shade structure like an Ez-Up, and actually no need for tent...just use the Ez-Up with walls, at least that is what we do.

My Tacoma stayed stock for a very long time...and traveled all over in it, had to upgrade to bette suspension because I broke the stock components.

This black Tundra isn't mine, but I like very a clean SnugTop, ARE, Leer topper, plus I don't like too much "bolt-on" BS items...more into the "stealth" look, cleaner the better. Keep everything hidden inside the topper. It wards off would be thieves. I have black curtains, that velcro to my SnugTop's carpet liner, so no one can peer through the windows and spy on my treasure...

Not a Tundra...but this style is just about perfect IMO.

Maybe an AutoHome Maggiolina roof top tent so it can me removed when not traveling.
