Anyone bolt unistrut to the topper shell roof for an awning mount?

Thinking about bolting a length of unistrut to each side of my iberglass topper shell. Low profile, cheap mount to add a bracket to for an awning or tarp mount. Any suggestions? Thoughts?

i used heavy duty uni (superstrut) to build a truck bed kayak rack for my 2 electric kayaks.solid as a rock.and it only cost me about $60 for 30 ft.plus endless mounting options with the spring nuts and 1/4" eyebolts.

Unistrut is great stuff. I used it for the rear rack on my old truck's aluminum/plastic shell. Bad pic, but you get the idea. I would put my kayak up there. I think it should work pretty good for awning mounts.
