Anyone doing LR3 Rear Bumper?

just my opinion, but welding together straight, angular pieces of steel isn't going to suffice any more for modern vehicle designs. The aftermarket needs to be exploring more alternatives using reinforced composites that incorporate some kind of metallic rub-rail where the piece is most likely to see frequent abrasion against terrain, and be lightweight yet sturdier to impact than the stock component.

in other words: I think all these steel bumpers for the LR3 look like doo-doo. :coffee: The market I believe is ripe for someone that has their stuff together in the composites industry.

I am with you. The RTE bumpers while strong and well built I am sure, look gaudy. The front bumper looks like the keel of a boat. :(

Couldn't agree more about the "design" aspects of the Aluminess and RTE. Actually, Aluminess, is more like Alumi-MESS. RTE - sorry, not feelin it. Try again.

When it comes to Kaymar - awesome stuff, but $3000 for a rear bumper? Seriously? That must be some great crackpipe.

Rasta has left the US.

FYI, I keep hearing different things about Rasta's status, so I sent them an email. Here is their response:

Our products are not available in the USA but all of our products can be
purchased directly from us, we ship anywhere in the USA.

Don't hesitate to contact me directly for any other request or question.

Asfir is making a few protection plates for the LR3 and may have a bumper int he works as they are constatnly developing new products.

It would be worth giving them a call as they just oppened an office in Scottsdale AZ and are beginning to bring more and more product into the US for distribution.

I believe they will be doing a NAS fittment soon. Brining in one of every product and fitting them onto the North American Spec vehicles to ensure fitment and make changes before bringing them in full force.

Again, worth a call to see if they have a LR3 bumper in development.

Regards
Brian

As others have said, Man-a-fre in SoCal has a few Kaymar bumpers in stock for the LR3 (or soon will, they were in shipping not long ago). Safari Guard came out with one, but the owner was reactivated and is currently serving his country overseas, so they are not available presently. Rovetyme developed a two piece rear bumper, not sure if they ever actually released it, but they might if you asked.

The Kaymar is by far the most professionally looking one, but it does not provide much if any advantage, it is exactly the same profile as the OEM plastic bumper. The Rasta tire carrier is pretty good. No rattles, even on washboard.

There is another company in Australia making a tire carrier, I forget the name, but look up Simon on Disco3.co.uk and you'll find him.

4X4 Intelligence is that company.
