Some of you know I recently created a thread r.e. prepaid cell phones for use in MX.
Since we don't go that often, and the prepaid accounts expire after 6 months-or-so of inactivity, my plan is to keep the accounts active by making our phones available to other travelers when we aren't using them.
However, our trip fell through and I don't have the opportunity to get the Mexican prepaid accounts set up. I could always wait until we do go, but...
Is anyone here planning a trip to MX, and interested in the use of these phones? In exchange, you would have to buy two TelCel SIM cards and pre-paid minutes once in Mexico. My online research tells me that the prepaid SIM cards should cost less than $20 each, and vendors will normally set everything up for you.
I would also ask that you leave a few minutes (credit) on the account, as a courtesy to the next user. It would be comforting to know that if you have some kind of crisis on arrival in Mexico that you can resolve it without having to first figure out how to purchase more phone credit...
I'll pay shipping to you, and you pay it back to me, so we split that cost.
I'm also going to ask for a $50 deposit since I don't know you.
Nothing personal. Yes, that's refundable. I think by definition a deposit should always be refundable. If it's not refundable, it's a charge, not a deposit, but I'm getting off on a tangent now, aren't I?
Sound fair? Any takers?
