Anyone know anything about River Raider Snorkels

Hey everyone, I am looking for someone who has installed a river raider snorkel on a 2004-06 Jeep LJ with A/C. I'd like to understand their satisfaction with the mod.

I am in the market and don't like some things about the plastic options on the market.

what don't you like about ARB's version? what other options do you see for the LJ?

oh, right that one jobby that uses the whole intake system as well as the snorkel.

i've run an arb on another vehicle and i can say that they are of high quality, thick, uv stable plastic. very tough stuff. when they hit things they don't dent or deform at all, they just bend a bit and then whip back into shape.

i've seen a rig roll down a hill leaving 0 straight panels on the whole truck and a smashed down windshield. the snorkel basically pulled itself free of the screws that stabilize it on the windshield and popped back upright after the vehicles weight was off of it...lol. :luxhello:

it was the highest point on the vehicle at that point!

ALlthough I really like the ARB system due to its ruggedness, there are some tradeoffs for Jeep ownwers. One of the best things about owning a Jeep is its versatility. I can take the top off, doors off, and even put the windshield down if I wanted. Not ideal for expedition travel, but can be fun on a short trip around camp.

The ARB interferes with the removal of the passenger side door, and some aftermarket lighting products I have my eye on. I guess I could always have a local fab shop work around the snorkel for a rack system and light brackets, etc. But having the door removal process go fro 2 minutes to 20 may be a pain.

I appears the river raider system allows the doors to be removed freely. The tradeoff is that the aluminum can be dented.
