Anyone try the new Smittybilt 2781 compressor? 5.65 cfm 1/3HP motor.

I haven't found any independent comparisons/reviews from reliable sources online so I'm curious if anyone here who owns one or has spent time using/comparing one has any thoughts on them.

I've already purchased one ($150) and found it inflates my 35's from 10-35psi in ~3 minutes which is ~2x the speed of an MV50 I ran on the other tire as an unbiased comparison.

It's not a 100% duty cycle compressor (40min max continous operating time) but then again, it's not as expensive as one either and for now, it fits my current needs.:ylsmoke:

How hot does your discharge hose get? Mine gets real hot real fast.

I think it depends on the ambient air temp and the time the unit's been running as much as anything else but when airing up two 35x12.5x15 tires from 10-35psi it did not get very hot. Ambient air temps were very nice probably in the high 70's.

OK, thought I missed out on something. Even dug up the receipt in case I had to return it to get an additional discount.

I got it for that price. I think 199 is their 'suggested retail price' while $149 is probably a valid street price.

I just picked one of these up from Amazon, used it twice (one weekend) Seemed to work very well, but the hose did get very hot. How does it seem to be holding up for you? Have you done any modifications? have you mounted it? I was thinking of mounting it and running it to a small (1-2 gallon) tank

It's been holding up nicely but being used to the speed of an MV50 I have to remember how quickly this fills my 35's.

Fwiw mine doesnt seem to get too hot albeit I know how hot the 50 used to get so maybe its just relative.

Any other updates on this unit? I've been looking at these and it looks like they put out about twice as much air as some of the other commonly used mini compressors.

I looked at the Smitty but ultimately bought the Masterflow Diabloww MF-1089. At the time it was under $120 on Amazon so was a better value. It is basically two MV-50s tied together. I have used it on one wheeling trip so far and it worked well, and is quite fast. The only thing I didn't like (other than the stupid chrome plating) was that the pressure gauge is at the chuck, not at the pump, so you have to watch the pressure at the tire, then you have to jump to the compressor quickly to turn it off.
