Excellent! ExPo folks had Anza Borrego well covered last weekend!

Great write-up, pictures and history.

Hey BorregoWrangler,

I passed you more than once out on our concurrent trip. We were on our way out of the BLM portion as you were airing down after turning left at the end of Splint Mountain Rd. I should have stopped to chat. We had A gold Tacoma, a Rubicon, Ford F250 with Four Wheel Camper on the back, and my old red CJ7. I recognized your Jeep from the rope you had tied on the front bumper. You guys had some great looking rigs especially the last decked-out silver FJ in your group. Great pictures by the way.

Oh yeah, I remember! So that was you in that cool CJ7, good to hear from ya. We were on our way out to Painted Gorge and Carrizo Mountain. You have any pics from your trip?

As you might have noticed, the CJ was slightly laden with a few pieces of gear. But being that I love photography, I didn't really see the importance of bringing my camera. JK... This was after planning for weeks, prepping and shoring up our vehicles, spending excessive amounts of money on new mods, etc, etc. Yes, I forgot the camera! Damn it... but my buddy had good standardized one I was able to use for the auspicious morning on Saturday....

So what areas and/or trials did you guys explore?

Here's my favorite pic from our trip-

Damn sorry about the delayed response. We started off the 8E and came up through Superstition Mtn. and worked our way over to a camp site we like to meander in. Saturday, we took off in my friends Rubicon just to tool around in the Fish Creek area. We did not do near as much overlanding as you did because it was just our desert season opener. Mostly, we sat around and ate fresh carne asada tacos and drank to many beers! We also included our infamous "wit" fest to chastise each other over the daily BS qualms of life in the city. Our round the circle repertoire of verbal reproaches is legendary within our group. Good times... Our next trip is to do a TruckHaven route similar to yours.
