ARB air locker disengages when shifting into reverse...

I recently had a rear ARB air locker installed. 8.25 chrysler rear end with an automatic transmission. Locker engages in drive, park and neutral. When I shift to Reverse it disengages the air compressor and the locker. When in reverse it will not allow me to turn on the compressor or engage the locker....sounds like an electrical issue and just curious if anyone else has run across this. A quick internet search has pulled up nada.

With air compressor switch and locker switch on and I go from reverse to drive the locker will engage when I get to drive.

I imagine the ARB is designed to work in reverse.

Where are you pulling power from for the control switch?

I am using power from the adjustable pedals and guess what I just found out....when in Reverse Jeep kills power to the adjustable pedals. Looks like I am going to have to find anothrr power source.

Thanks for the help.

Also, is the compressor wired through a relay? If you're pulling power from a existing circuit running through a switch then power to the compressor you are over loading that circuit. It will blow fuses or melt wires could cause fire. I'd pull power from a source like dome or radio, run that to a relay that gets fuses power straight from the battery, that way you have hardly any load through the switch and clean safe power through and to the compressor.

Yes the compressor and compressor switch is wired through a relay. I went with one of the cigarette lighter power supply this time around. I used the adjustable pedal power source out of convenience and who knew that power was cut in reverse. Everything works now...glad I found this out local and not out on the trail...
