Arctic SAT Internet

I will be north of Barrow for 8 months and I am hoping there is a satellite internet provider with a bird that far north. Does anyone have any info?

As you know geosynchronous sats don't see the poles. Iridium is the only network that covers everywhere by using some LEO near polar orbits in their constellation.

I know that most of the sats are geosynched at the equator, but since we do get Iridium I was wondering if another provider had put some sats up. I figure that with the Arctic opening to traffic, coverage will come.

I think BGAN is what you are after. Coverage up there might be sketchy at times, but it's the best option I am aware of. It looks like they have coverage north of Barrow but it says that area is expected in 2008 (the sat to be launched in 2008). Perhaps you could try to get some references from people who have tried to use it there.
