Valentines day weekend the girlfriend and I decided to get out and see some nature. We decided this would help cure our winter blues and help subdue our spring fever. This would also be a nice time to give the 4runner a shake down of some recent additions. New to try out was the alignment that had been preformed after the install of my new adjustable track bar from Sonoran Steel, 55w HID upgraded light force 240's, and Campinglab 79" Awning with privacy enclosure walls. And hey, who doesn't enjoy the beach in February?
We left of Friday afternoon after a short day of work. just about a 3 hour drive and we were there. Before checking into the hotel for the night, we had to go check out the OSV (Over Sand Vehicle) area!
To save some time, we tried to go at it without airing down. Not the best idea I've ever had. The 4runner trucked through the sand but I could tell it was trying much harder than it should have to. So after about a mile we stopped in the darkness of the night and took it down to about 18 psi. That helped out a lot. Now we could cruise without hearing the engine struggling so much.
It was nice just to see the ocean, with a clear sky, and no city lights washing out our view. The moon was bright even for only being half full. This was the perfect time to get out and play with the camera! The shots didn't come out as well as I was hoping for but I learned a few things for next time!
The 55w HIDs make a world of difference in the Light Force 240's compared to the 100w halogen bulbs!
The next day we made sure to wake up and get our view of the sunrise over the ocean. There were a few clouds but it was spectacular none the less.
Then I got a present!
The new joby Gorilla Pod has been great so far. It lives up to its great reviews!
After some breakfast, we were off to go explore the island some more. This time we didnt see too much wildlife compared to past visits but the weather was pretty nice for February ( 57 degrees!). We drove along the beach for several miles before taking a smaller trail to the sound side of the island. It all yielded beautiful views unobstructed by civilization.
The wind on the beach ended up being to much for the privacy walls but the campinglab awning held up great. We didn't take any pictures because the wind was so great that it made it too cold to enjoy the shade. It is good to know the awning will stand up to 40 mph winds though!
The alignment also was fine with the new track bar installed form Sonoran Steel. That is definitely a quality piece, and worth every penny.
Hope you all enjoy the pictures!
