ATT used to restrict VOIP applications like Skype to WiFi only, and not via the ATT 3G wireless network. This policy changed today:

"DALLAS, October 6, 2009 - AT&T today announced it has taken the steps necessary so that Apple can enable VoIP applications on iPhone to run on AT&T's wireless network. Awesome. Maybe they have finished up the network 3G bandwidth issues and opened the door for tethering as a next step!

Cool news, has anyone used any other VoIP apps that work well on the iPhone? Skype is the only one I'm familiar with.

That would be killer, but I bet the price of the plans will be outrageous. Having a laptop with a 3G connection in the car would be seriously sweet on road trips though...
