Auburn Ected Locker Experience Anyone?

a friend of mine is looking to install a rear locker set up on his 78 GMC.
His carrier is too worn out to install a Lockrite set up so he is looking into a complete setup, but without the big ARB price tag.
Randy's ring and pinion has the ECTED set up on sale now- no shipping and $575
to the door.
sounds like a good deal but we wonder how good of a unit is it? anyone has any experiance with this set up?
thanks!

I have never used or seen that locker before. Another option, and a better one in my opinion would be to look for a used ARB locker. Price will be right and chance are the locker will be in great condition.

They are not too hard to find and there is generally nothing wrong with a used ARB, you might need to refresh the o-rings, bearing cap, etc but you can't beat an ARB.

I bought both my ARBs used and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Search the big online forums - craigslist, Pirate4x4, Colorado4x4, CK5 and any other online forum that supports the vehicle make/model.

I have had one in the D44 of my 97 TJ for about a year. Low mileage on it but now problems. The local off-road shop has installed a fair number and I have heard no complaints. I don't have air on board so electric was quicker, cheaper and easier.
