One of the problem is paperwork. The Land Cruiser is still registered in Australia, and importing it properly in Europe could be a bit challenging.
Just as a reference, the guy I sold my HZ75 to took him 2 years to get proper registration in Belgium. It also too new to bring in Canada.
I suppose you could transfer the Australia registration to your name but I don't know if you can do it remotely. You may need to go over there - with or without the truck.
You may also be able to just get a notarized letter from the seller, but that's always a bit more tricky. Just as a reference we offered 13000 Euro but he wasn't interested.
I still have my Australian passport & drivers license, so I figured I would do whatever it takes to register it there in my name, then just drive it where ever with Aussie plates.
Likely I could sign a power of attorney for my Dad to do it without me being there (he's bought and sold cars in my name before that way).
I don't know if the truck itself has to be there, it likely depends on which state it currently registered in, and if I want to move it to another state (likely).
It might need a safety inspection.
Thanks for the price info, I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet being the highly-sought-after '78 that it is.
I'm only one quarter-seriously looking right now, I still have saving to do.

EDIT: If it's registered in NSW it would cost me $30 to get it into my name, and there is even a section on the form for if I want to send someone else to do it for me. Easy

hmm. It likely needs a yearly safety inspection, which might be a problem

Surely other overlanders have gotten around this when they have a vehicle out of the country for >1 year.
