Auto Part Quality

Hey Guys,

I am starting to get price points for getting my front end on the Cherokee rebuilt; Tie rod ends, ball joints, ZJ Tie rod, Rotors, calipers, new coil springs (rustys), and new shocks. But I'm having some trouble deciding on manufacturer. I don't have 80 bucks to spend on 1 moog ball joint which leads me to, what is the next best thing?

Car Quest quoted me $259 bucks for 4 tie rod ends and all the ball joints, they are made by Raybestos. Advance Auto Quoted 257 bucks for all driveworks stuff (never even heard of them). I won't be bashing my jeep around in moab or extreme cross global trips. But I do not want to do this again in 6 months. Any help?!?

The alignment shop quoted me 70 bucks for an alignment, not bad. And 20 bucks to throw it up on the lift to see what I actually need. At 264,000 miles the jeep has, I haven't replaced any suspension or steering part in the last 100k.

Talk about being overwhelmed. I have heard some people use Rockauto.com for their part sourcing. Where do I start?

Goto napa and buy napa gold lifetime warranty parts. they are made by dana spicer. They are expensive, but they are stout and will be able to be rebuilt if need be, but when they wear out, pop it out and get a new one free. Done.

For about 5 years, I been only getting parts from NAPA, and recently now RockAuto.com. Most of the NAPA parts are better quality and the price is comparible, especially when I figure in time and $ to travel 10 miles to my closest Autozone or Advance. Most of my repairs in the past 10 years have actually been replacing the replacement parts that I bought from Autozone or Advance.

Once nice thing about RockAuto is that they actually tell you which parts are lowest quality so you can buy based on your need.

I just like the return to the store, grab a new part, install and bring back the old for full refund. Nothing beats that. Service is number one with napa. Well, at least in my area.
