Aux lighting

Rocky Crag

Oh the burdens of good fortune. I won an Ironman lightbar at Southern California Land Rover's Rover Rendezvous and have now mounted it to the bumper of the truck. I presume I can figure out how to go from there but my main question is how to "activate" one of the "blank" buttons either around the instrument cluster or the one left of the HVAC controls (where the hazard light and hill descent control is). Can it be done? I've google'd for online instructions to no avail.

Thanks for the help.

p.s. it's an '04 DII

On the binacle, just pull on one of the blanks and it will pop right out. There may be some wiring behind the left blank for PDC, but if you don't have PDC then don't worry about it. Buy an aux switch and a relay. I'm running this setup for my overhead lights.

You'll have to get creative with a pulse-toggle relay array if you use the momentary switch. I just swapped in an manual switch like the one for the rear wiper.

Craig,

you can use the D1 switch binnacle where the cruise and foglight switches live. Remove your ashtray and it will fit right in on the D2 dash. I've got an extra 2 switch panel sitting around and possibly have at least one extra fog light switch, you can have it or if you want you can goto a junkyard with a d1 and get the panel and switches from there.
