Aux tank for Cherokee?

While I was under my truck last week reinstalling my rebuilt driveshafts, I noticed that there was "open" space next to the driveshaft inboard of the unibody framerail. On the other side this space is taken up by the exhaust system.

Anyone make an aux. tank to fit there? I'd say that a long 8-10" wide tank would do nicely to hold maybe 10-15 gallons. Genright maybe?

I know we can just carry a few jerry cans and get this type of capacity, but I'm more and more interested in keeping things from being strapped to the outside of my truck. (though I'd probably go that route if I have to swallow a $1000.00 price tag for a aux tank.)

And yes, I'm aware of the "vent mod" to get more capacity out of our stock 20 gallon tanks. I'll probably do that, too. :)

I started a thread about extra capacity tanks over on NAXKA and to sum up:

It's much easier to find tanks for '95 and older tanks.
There was North West Metal Products, Transferflo and Jazz Jeepspeed. You'll have to read the thread to see which company is still making them, but the Jazz one seemed to be for "race" vehicles only because you'd have to cut a hole in the floor to allow the filler spout room to, well, fill. :)

EDIT: I'll save you some time searching, here's the thread - http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1033976

any info on the "vent mod"? never heard of that..

also, finding aux tanks for a 97+ is a pain! ive tried looking turning over little results. another thing to think about is, if you were to build a tank for that location, it could be used for fuel or a water tank for expedition stuff. run a few lines and a water pump and you can have a set up like an rv/camper :)

i think if i were to go all out with my XJ id end up talking to a few of the race car people my dad knows and have a fuel cell shop build me a tank. i know alot of them build custom tanks. not cheap but in the end you will get what you want and it will be quality product...
