Auxiliary/replacement fuel tank for gas engine

Does anyone know of a replacement or auxiliary fuel tank that will fit on a 2006 Dodge Ram. The hemi is very thirsty and it seems like the fuel tank options are limited to diesel engines.

If you are able to custom fab I would look at any of the rear mount tanks.
The factory late model Bronco tanks were 33 gallon, and the F-150's had a rear mounted 19 gallon tank.
Both mounted in the back below the bed between the frame rails.

The plumbing and wiring would be up to you but the tank and it's pump/sender should be fine to run the Hemi.

If you have any interest I'll measure a Bronco 33 gal tank since I have one out right now.

Replacement fuel tanks should be available from Transfer Flow and Titan, sorry don't have their sites. Be aware that both = $$$.

I've found at least a couple gas transfer tanks for pickup beds, but it's been a while. Keep searching, looking for transfer tanks, not aux fuel tanks. If it was me and I couldn't find a gas fuel tank, I'd buy a steel diesel tank and call it good. My .02.

Good luck.

If the diesel engine has an optional tank, it'll likely fit the gas engine truck. I'd check the local junkyards for a good tank. It might take some adapting (fuel line, EVAP system), but I'll bet it's a direct fit otherwise.

Tour Buddy tanks

www.tourbuddy.com is another option. Sort of like tanks for each corner of the bed, add as many as you need.

BTW, on my Dodge diesel, which shares the same tank with the gassers, I installed a vent kit on the stock tank expansion buldges that lets me get 39 gallons in the 34 gallon tank! May not work with gas because of the need to allow for expansion...I do know the gas and diesel tanks are the same.

I suspect the reason you can find auxiliary fuel tanks for diesels, but not for gas models is due to smog issues. Diesel doesn't have the evaporation concerns that gas does (from an emissions standpoint) and tanks for diesel apps aren't required to be emissions certified with DEQ or CARB. Tanks for gas apps are.

I bet it has MUCH more to do with overall combustibility of the fuel than any smog regulations.

You can transport diesel in nearly any container.

Gas, totally different story.

Gas tanks have to be designed for GAS.

This is something I've been looking for since I took delivery of my MegaCab Ram 2 years ago. I can't understand why there's no gas optional tank for transfer that can go into the passenger side channel similar to the way the tank is mounted on the drivers side. I'll have to look at the Bronco tanks and measure it out. I've got the large tank on it but never really thought about using one of those as an option. The only difference is, the stock Ram tanks are fiberglass or whatever they make them out of. The Bronco's is metal.
