I wonder were that goes..
My son and I set out for a little off the grid weekend adventure. Living in Las Vegas allows us many directions of travel with a back country journey only hours from our driveway. After purchasing my Tacoma last year, attending the expo in Flagstaff, and too many hours on this forum, we decided our maiden voyage would be to the Grand Canyon North rim. I loaded up the truck on a Thursday night, picked the boy up during his lunch on Friday, and headed to Mesquite, NV in search of some dirt. And dirt we found....over 240 miles of it.

Our "plan" was to make it to Oak Grove for an evening in the pines, but we didn't make it that far. We found a nice spot in hidden canyon to hide away for the night. We watched the sun sneak away as well......

We woke up the next day and headed to twin point!!!!

I love being able to share these moments of wonder with my son......

My truck enjoyed the view...

As did I....

The recent rain left us with flowers everywhere ....
We came across an area that was smoking....
After many hours in 4wd we eventually made it to Kelly Point. Not before running into Banjo Jack fixing his 1974 CJ5 in a valley approximately 7 miles from the point. After getting his old iron running again we finished the last remaining miles together. If I had to guess Banjo Jack is in his mid to late 60's maybe 70's and he was out here by himself...in a 38 year old jeep....with manual everything.....truly an inspiration.
Just in time to set up camp and watch another sunset....
Nice full moon...
Woke up to this....
And my favorite pic of the trip...
We left Kelly point and headed in to St George before returning to Vegas. We can't wait to get out there again.....
