You can call Bailey's Towing Accessories at 919-562-2984. If one is purchased we can send it in a US Postal envelope for $8 with insurance.

We strongly recommend that you don't go off the winch rating but your cable rating for safety. Standard 3/8 cable's working load limit is 3,000 lbs.

I too would like to know where you get that from.

Found it breaking strength divide by 5.

Where did you come up with that?
He's probably referring to wire rope, so he's not far off.

From: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Recovery/index.html
(NOTE that with the wire ropes supplied on almost, if not, every recreational 4x4 winch the design factor is non-existent or negligible. This is the industry's "dirty little secret" and if not understood and accounted for - could get you hurt.
Bill V. is the first person I've ever seen mention the low WLL on winch rope, or, more accurately I suppose, the paltry design factor that winch manufacturers use for winch rope.

There is a national SAEJ standard that specifies a ratio specific to towing and recovery procedures for wire rope: SAEJ959. This code states that a ratio of 3.55:1 is to be used for all wire rope used on a towing and or a recovery unit. Check out this link; it is a document from a major wire rope supplier and the WLL numbers. http://www.baprod.com/images/stories/wire_rope_specs.pdf

Bailey's Towing Accessories goes by the old code 5:1 (which is even safer than the new updated code).
