We will be heading down to San Juanico before summer actually starts. This way I get a vacation before the real work starts.
:shakin:

We will be departing San Diego (SDSU area) on June 6th. Driving down to San Ignacio and stay the night there. Probably at Casa Leree, unless they are full. Then drive out the next morning via the north road into San Juanico. *We will NOT be stopping for Tourist permits. Ours are good for 180 days. :)

Stay at San Juanico from June 7th through June 12th and start our drive out via the east road. Then make our way back up north possibly stopping around Catavina or further depending on time.

We will be camping on the point.

If anyone is interested feel free to tag-along.
However...tag-alongs are limited to three vehicles. This is a sensitive area that doesn't need to be anymore crowded.

OH, I have not been here before. Which is of course why I am going. So if you have any suggestions, opinions, or if you just want to tell me I'm nuts...I'm waiting.

I wish I had saved my GPS track log when I drove the north road in March. I think you'll be fine though, just keep the Pacific on your right and head south, all the myriad of roads all go the same way.

Man I love San Ignacio...
Have fun and good luck catching a few waves. Surfed Swami's over the weekend and San O yesterday w/ some decent 2-3 footers. I'll be down in Cabo but don't think we'll travel that far north for surf. Have fun:campfire:

You were here in town and didn't bother to tell anyone?
We could have gotten together at Pizza Port! :chowtime:

Oh well, glad you got in the water.
Have fun in Cabo.

No Camping In The Federal Zone!!!

Hey, i just wanted to alert you of some things that are going on in san juanico. Apparently the land has been sold, or is in the process of being sold under and around the campgrounds and cantina. I have email'd kory (cantina manager) back and forth and they are not letting anyone park, drive, or camp in the federal zone. THIS MEANS: NO CAMPING ON THE BLUFFS from the inside of 2nds past 4th pt. Seems there is some drama going on. But it really sucks because i think the whole area has a plan for a development of either small lots, or a hotel is going to be put up closing access to 2nds and 3rds via the bluffs.
Check out www.scorpionbay.net and scroll to the BBS link for forum messages/info. Its a shame, but times are a changing.

By the way, does anyone know what the mexican law is about camping/parking/being in the federal zone? By definition, the federal zone is the first 20 meteres from mean high tide line and is considered public access. This is why im confused as to why no camping is being allowed there.

When I was there in March, RVs were restricted and not allowed to park in the Federal zone. Maybe things have changed since then.

When were you there in march? I was there around 10th-15th. was darn fun too. We got that good swell that rolled thru - heres a couple pics. We were parked with a white box trailer right at the walk down to the beach at 2nds.

Well here's the response i just got from Kory (campground-cantina manager)

"The federal zone is public land. The company I work for has a concession
for the federal zone, this means we are in charge of maintaining it. The law in
Mexico states that no one is permitted to drive or park in the federal zone. This law is true for the entire country, it has never been enforced in San Juanico until recently."

Very true, however the public has the right to walk and enjoy the beach!

That is why every so many feet in a residential area they need to have acces to the beach as no body owns the mexican beach, but the government!

Wow thanks!

Did you guys travel the east road at all? I have heard that it is pretty hammered after the hurricane.

So...Whenever I camp close to the beach I am technically breaking the law?
Like here:

And is it the mean tide line, high tide line, low tide???
