Baja Roof Rack Experience

For those who own one...How well does the built in-faring work, does it prevent all air-speed noise?

I have Front Runner on my UZJ00 and controlling noise is a big problem. Plus I end up ripping the Thule faring off every time I wheel.... Baja seem like a good rack value, considering one for my RRC.

I've got one on my D1 and there is some wind noise due to the stepped design of the rack but overall not bad. I think on the RRC with the flatter design of the roof the built in fairing would do just fine..

I've got a Baja Rack with the fairing on my RRC, and it's not bad at all. However, I've got mud tires and a bunch of other stuff.

I have one on my 4runner. I hear the all terrains more than the roof rack. No wind noise here. Overall I am very happy with the rack, just wish the powder coat was higher quality but if and when it chips I am thinking of painting truck bed liner on it.

I put the drop in rack on my OEM roof rack on the FJ Cruiser and definitely had in increase in wind noise. That Drop in unit has a nice air dam on it too.

I think if you put something on the roof you're going to get some wind noise.

You just have to get used to it.

Without a doubt, some more than others but its always there. I've been running some sort of roof rack on every vehicle I've owned for the past thirty years. I love the Front Runner (FR) system but without a fairing its loud....VERY loud... Damn you harmonics. I'm going to move the FR to my Series truck, which, between the tires and diesel engine, is already laden with noise pollution. So the FR doesn't add any more to the drive experience in that rig :)

Thanks for all the feedback, might pick up a Baja next month.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I've been very happy with our BajaRack. There is a bit more noise when it's mounted, but not bad.
However, my setup sits rather high now until I remove the factory rails and mount some Rola bars in there place.
Very solid design that has served me well for many thousands of miles.

I have the Baja Rack on my FJ as well as the light bar and I can hear no noise from them at all. However, I am running 33s mud tires.

I had a Bajarack custom made for my Tundra. With my Crewmax configuration, I needed something smaller than what was available. The rack is super stout and I have incorporated the fairing as a base for my 40" light bar. I had some reinforce tabs added under the feet of the bar and bolted through the fairing.

I don't notice any wind noise coming off of this rack, but then again if there is, it is not any louder than my 33" ATs humming...

Hope this helps.

Love my Baja rack. Had it custom made for my xterra with a large flat rear section for the rtt. It was more quiet than the stock fairing. Added the light bar and can hear some minor wind noise, But only if I have a strong headwind
