I spent a little more time on Saturday exploring Bald Eagle State Forest here in Pennsylvania. This was my fifth trip up there. I frequent the area because its close to home, and the wilderness is relatively vast as far as PA goes. It mostly consists of gravel forest roads, but there are numerous marked "drivable trails" that offer more remote touring and slightly rougher terrain.
On this day, almost every trail I explored resulted in a dead end - some of which I had anticipated, and others I hadn't. I hate backtracking! Booooring. Still - I found an interesting natural spring, a couple secluded campsites, and several scenic locations off the beaten path. It was my first time out of the house since Monongahela, so it was a fulfilling day trip.
Photo Map (its cool, check it out)

I was apprehensive to drive through this at first, but after some poking and prodding, I found it to be hard bottom. Water level was just below my bumpers. Still, I need to fill that ARB hole soon before my luck runs out. lol
A cool foot bridge leading to a secluded stone cabin. Very nice area. The water was flowing heavily that day because of recent rain.
Passing an interesting stone structure, with an open top and slotted openings on its sides. It appears to be some kind of oven by my best guess, or perhaps just a stone burning pit for trash and whatnot.
Poser shot. Had to be done.
This was a really nice wooded trail that traveled down the mountain via a gap. A picturesque stream ran next to it. There was a potential roadblock up ahead. I dunno - can I squeeze under it?
No dice. What a drag.
It was getting dark, but I decided to explore one last trail. I could really use more lighting on my rig - but after M8000 and after 276C.
Okay, maybe that wasn't such a great idea. I'm two miles in, the trail was barely visible, I'm alone, my check engine light was on, and this picture was a 15 second exposure! At this point, my imagination was starting to play with me. It was totally time to head out.
As a matter of fact, on my way out I passed these two! OMG! I freaked out and floored it - one of them threw a rock at the Cherokee as I blew by.
Good times!
