BAP winch Mount

Well I would like an ARB but there a little hard to find used for a rover in texas.

Why is your heart set on an ARB. They're nice, but again not the best for clearance and approach angle. But it all depends what you want to do with the truck. Also, my friend has an ARB on his D2 and working the freespool lever on the winch is a PITA. Have to reach under the bumper because the winch mount bracket is vertical IIRC.

This is a Camping and Road trip Truck. I’m looking for protection from Deer strike and be a solid platform for winching. I will never be on harder than a 2/3 star trail. I’ve done the whole rock crawling thing and I’m over it. Approach will not be a major issue for me. I like the Rover Tym bumpers too but I really done want to have to buy a new bumper and I really don’t ever there bumpers used in a location that I can pick them up or would want to ship it.

You will have to almost crawl under the truck to work the free spool lever. It is very solid though, and is an option if you really cannot go to a winch bumper right now. And as mentioned, it does sit pretty low under the bumper. My D1 came with one, I have since put an ARB on it.

I really like it everything is still very easy to reach, its tough as nails for sure and doesnt add half the weight of a bumper. I've had for over a year now and used it in all conditions, it has not affected my approach angles at all. Buy it you'll like it!

Any chance you can post some pix? I'd be interested to see it on a D2. A friend mangled my front bumper and I'm trying to decide what to do about it. None of the commercially available winch bumpers are really saying "Buy me", so this and a custom non-winch bumper might be something I'd consider...

using a hawse fairlead will gain you a couple inches of clearance.

OK. Thanks for the pictures. They help a lot!

It doesn't look like you lose much clearance on a D2...it just takes up roughly the same space that was consumed by the stock bumper.

I do believe you can move it up higher by rerouting the tranny cooler lines that would be in the way, for me since my Disco is not a hardcore offroader but more a camping/overland vehicle it isn't an issue for me.

How do you access the freespool lever on this mount? It would appear you have to reach waaaaay under to get to it? If you don't use your winch often then its probably not a huge deal. Then again if your stuck in some deep mud or snow it could prove problematic.
