Batteries

Looked around and did not find any similar threads so here we go. Batteries. What brand? Single or Dual? What you use it for (extensive light, fridge, and so on)?

I guess I'll start:
I've got an Optima Red Top. It was the battery my Xterra had when I bought it. There's just the one and I use it to power my CB radio and the two Hella 700's mounted on the bumper.

I just replaced the battery in my TJ, At this time I could not justify a optima so I went with an Auto Zone Duralast battery(less then half the cost).
Right now I mostly just daily drive my TJ, For my MJ when I mount a winch/frige/aux lights ect I will upgrade the alternator & go with dual yellow tops.

Optimas for me.

My truck has 5. Two red tops for the diesel and cab, and 3 blue top deep cycles for my power hungry inverter.

I've used Optima in the past, but everything I see says they aren't what they once were.

I'm going with Odyssey for my next ones.

Diehard Platinum all the way. I used to be an Optima fan, but no longer. Side by side the Diehard Platinum out performs. The warranty is also much better if you ever need to use it.

Diehard Platnium is an Optima! I have used Optima on my Buell, on two IHC Scouts, and I now have a pair of Diehard Platnium's in my Ram. Optima builds the Platnium's for Sears.

You are correct, Odyssey...not Optima! And it is Odyssey that I have in my Buell and used on my Scouts. Seem to have trouble wit "O" words...

I got 10 years out of an Odyssey in my '98 Buell (original battery died at 10 months!) including 3 years in Billings, MT...very hard on batteries. Just put in another Odyssey.

The military appears to use a lot of Odyssey's, which is another endoursement. BTW, they can be mounted in any position.
